We returned to Villa Sensano 4 years later when we wanted to do some more exploring in Tuscany and we knew we would be returning to a great property, great hosts and great accommodation! We were so happy we did. The hosts are so friendly that it makes such a comfortable place to stay. We stayed in Rosa Rossa this year, which has nice views of the gardens and hills beyond. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and the facilities were everything we needed! When we decided to stay in to cook (which was not often actually, considering the amazing food options on offer in Tuscany!) we used the BBQ and the small stovetop in the kitchen. Everything that we required for meal prep was available and we ate most meals outside. With the heat wave, which swept Italy in August, we spent a number of days by the pool, which is large, and never feels overcrowded even when several couples or families are using it. The villa is very well situated in Tuscany – we travelled to Siena for the Palio, Monteriggioni, Isle of Elba for a day of swimming and snorkelling, Certaldo, San Gimignano, Volterra, and many places in between. It was easy to get groceries at a large coop in Volterra. Federica gave some good suggestions on food/wine options and we absolutely loved our Saturday night dinner at Frattoria Poggio Alloro on their recommendation. We used the pizzeria next door if we did not want to travel far (or if we had a few too many aperols!) and there are some great restaurants within 20 mins of the villa. Finally, we loved seeing Frasierino (a kitty who has adopted the villa as his home!) most days sleeping in some shady spot around the garden. We will be returning for many years to come! We recommend Villa Sensano to any family/friends who are planning to visit Tuscany.
