We visited here as a family of 4 staying in the Rosa Tea a 2 bed ground floor apartment.

Location- about 20 mins from San gimignano and 25 from volterra. An hour from Florence, Siena and Pisa. The villa is in a small community down a cypress lined gravel road.

The apartment- well equipped with a double and twin room, living room and kitchen. There was a dishwasher. To use the washing machine you have to ask Fredericka or Lavinia ( €3 per use; €5 if you use their powder). There was a tv with digital channels so we managed to catch up with the olympics. There was wifi within the apartment. Do take mosquito repellent we did get bitten. The apartment had no balcony but just outside the villa there was a lovely gardens with tables and chairs to use. We always ate outside.

The pool area- well maintained. There were staff always tidying the area. The pool was quite cool but fine if you kept moving. There was a bathroom near the pool so you didn’t need to climb the steps back up to the apartment.

Communal room- had a big tv and sofas.

Spa area- we got around to organising a trip to the spa on the last day. It had a jacuzzi and massage beds – very relaxing

The hosts- Sisters Lavinia and Fredericka have lovingly restored the villa. They take care of the place so it is spotlessly clean. They live on site so are around if there are any problems. They were very helpful with suggestions for parking in Florence and places to visit and generally very lovely ladies.

A man delivering bread and croissants comes by – Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Above reception is a small shop and there is breakfast available at an added cost.

We had a fantastic holiday in villa Sensano and would love to visit again soon.

We do a lot of running and the vistas around Sensano are amazing although a word of warning – get out early ( v hot) and be aware that it is v, v hilly!
